History of the ITT Department

The Department of Information Technologies in Telecommunications (ITT) was established on July 1, 2023 at the basis of department of Information and Communication Technologies and Systems (ICTS) of the Institute of Telecommunication Systems of Igor Sikorsky KPI.

In Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, “Telecommunications” training program was approved after its creation in 2002. Department of Telecommunication Systems and Networks (TSN), headed by Professor, Ph.D. Globa L.S., who at that time was already a well-known scientific and pedagogical specialist in the field of information and telecommunication technologies. To meet the demand for training students of “Telecommunications” program in information technologies in 2004 on the basis of TSN Department the Departments of Information and Telecommunication Networks (ITN) and Telecommunication Systems (TS) in Institute of telecommunication systems was created.

Working results of the department’s specialty “Information and Telecommunication Networks” provided a license and certificate of accreditation (Series ND-IV №112361 from 30.06.2005) of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for the right to study and issue diplomas to graduates of this specialty, that represented the high level of education organization and students level of knowledge. Over the years, it have trained hundreds of young wide profile engineers who currently work in leading companies and organizations of information and telecommunications profile as telecommunications engineers, telecommunications equipment operation engineers, system management and maintenance engineers, research engineers, organization of telecommunication production processes engineers, system administrators of telecommunication networks, etc.

Since 2005 Department of ITN participates in a project with the Technical University of Dresden (Germany) to exchange students and develop collaborative master’s degree in order to obtain a double diploma of two educational institutions.

In 2007, at the all-Ukrainian competition of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, which took place in KNURE, 4th year student Kot T. received a diploma for first place among student research papers (supervisor Prof. Globa).

In 2008 at the academic competition “Telecommunications” (KNURE) the team of the ITN Department consisting of students: Yu. Tikhonenko, D. Nyzhnyk, K. Yermakova, took the 1st team place.

The work of student Yashchuk O. took 3rd place at the All-Ukrainian competition of student research papers in KNURE.

About Research Center for Interdisciplinary Research

The Research Center for Interdisciplinary Research (RC IR) is an organization that united specialists in information and telecommunication technologies, the composition of which is based on the staff of the ITM department. RC IR is a structural unit of the Educational and Scientific Complex Institute of Telecommunication Systems of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”. In total, the staff of the center has worked more than 200,000 project hours. Many years of experience in research and the creation of knowledge-intensive systems leads to a creative approach to work and allows us to offer our customers the most effective solutions.
