Resilience is psychological flexibility, stability, and the ability to adapt to new, particularly difficult conditions, productively overcoming challenges.
Since volunteer work involves active involvement in other people’s problems and is sometimes carried out in rather dangerous conditions, developing resilience is extremely important for volunteers.
Recommendations for developing resilience:
Reflect – assess your daily state, mood, and its causes.
Try to notice the meaning of each day, the meaning of a particular activity, and why it is important.
Look for positive conclusions, what experience you have gained, what its value is, and what conclusions can be drawn for the future.
Maintain relationships with those around you, share your thoughts, discuss, and if necessary, ask for support.
Focus your resources on what you can really change, not on external circumstances.
Remember your previous achievements, when you managed to overcome difficulties and reach new heights, even when it was very difficult.
Let go of what is beyond your control.
Remember to get quality rest and restore your physical strength.
